World of Concrete 2020
World of Concrete 2020 was an incredible event, packed with interesting demos and great new products. We loved chatting with our customers and meeting some new friends, too! Conference organizers estimate 54,000 professionals attended this year, and over 1,300 companies exhibited.
Proline’s booths were busier than ever with exciting demonstrations and new product highlights. The Pocono Bluestone Large Ashlar Magnetic set was unveiled, as well as two patterns still in the R&D phase, Sand and Reclaimed Timber. Proline continues to take the innovation to the next level and our customers can’t wait until these two sets are available!
We poured the Live Edge Table Mold and the American Flag Plaque with PROCAST, Proline’s GFRC mix for countertops, table molds, and more. Customers jumped in to help stain and color the pieces using Proline Accent Color. The new seamless Oak Bark texture was a popular new product along with the new Roman Slate Bench Mold (15” x 60” x 3”).
Portland Concrete provided their annual economic forecast, which they believe will see “continued moderate economic growth“. This growth is based on dollars spent on construction and overall cement consumption, as well as strong consumer demand and a solid labor market.
Companies introduced exciting new innovations. Hilti’s new Tracefast system uses a smartphone app to scan the data code on the head of an anchor bolt for a simple confirmation of an anchor’s type and strength. Case Construction Equipment’s launched a new B-Series equipment consisting of five compact track loaders and eight skid steers with redesigned cabs and intuitive interfaces. Stilh introduced a Bluetooth-enabled asset management system that can work with any tool that creates magnetic flux.
A silent auction held by Concrete Industry Management (CIM) generated over $1.2 million dollars for its program, which broke all prior records. CIM is a business program developed to provide students with a Bachelor of Science degree in Concrete Industry Management. The goal of the program is to create graduate who are knowledgeable in construction management and concrete technology and techniques, while providing them with real life work experience early in their careers.
Plus, World of Concrete premiered their first podcast, Let’s Go to Work, hosted by Dean and Derek. Meet the key players in the industry and learn more about their innovative companies as they share their insights and business stories.
